As his wife Antonella and their three children strolled among the delighted supporters, Messi had to sign merchandised items as well.

On social media, a video of Messi being greeted at the Barcelona airport has gone viral. Fans couldn't help but share their delight on Twitter.

Messi was photographed at the airport by a Twitter user. The description on the Twitter post said, "From the arrival of the legend Messi and his family to Barcelona."

"As he landed down with his family in the Catalan capital on Wednesday, Messi's family was received warmly," said the caption of the post.

Messi moved to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from Barcelona ahead of the 2021-22 season, but the Argentine still owns a home in the Catalan capital. Messi had appeared in 778 games for Barcelona, scoring 672 goals. Messi won 34 titles and six Ballon d'Or awards during his time with Barcelona.

FC Barcelona star Gavi has rejected the club's first contract renewal offer, which Liverpool are willing to more than quadruple.

The 17-year-old currently takes home a measly €100,000 ($107,000) a year, which makes him the lowest paid regular first team player by some stretch after breaking through to the senior fold at the start of last season.
